Kaiten Sushi & Casablanca８月１３日、DCでは、縷Screen on the Green縷という、一般大衆向けの野外映画があり、カサブランカを見てきました。スミソニアン博物館／美術館のすぐ横のキャピタルの目の前の芝生の上で、８時半からの映画。私は初めてのことで、大した準備もなく、同僚と仕事後にぶらぶらっと立ち寄ってみました。聞くところによると、この夏だけで５回も企画があって、今回がその最終回とのこと、独立記念日を思い出すかのようにモールの芝生の上に人、人、人！！！みんな慣れ...日記iiidc2007-08-15T04:40:19+09:00カサブランカを見てきました。スミソニアン博物館／美術館のすぐ横のキャピタルの目の前の芝生の上で、８時半からの映画。私は初めてのことで、大した準備もなく、同僚と仕事後にぶらぶらっと立ち寄ってみました。聞くところによると、この夏だけで５回も企画があって、今回がその最終回とのこと、独立記念日を思い出すかのようにモールの芝生の上に人、人、人！！！みんな慣れたもんで、２－３時間も前からブランケット、お弁当にカードゲームなど持参で、ピクニック＋映画の夕方アウトドアコースにばっちり備えて楽しんでいるという感じでした。 カサブランカといえば、あのHumphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergmanの若かれし頃、３つのオスカーをゲットした超有名中の有名なクラシック映画です。といっても、実は恥ずかしながら、私は全体を通して見るのは初めてのこと。 舞台は第２次世界大戦の終戦近くのアフリカのカサブランカ。。。画面は白黒で、サウンドはエコーしてるし、しかもあの時代の人はなぜか今と違って口を開かないでボソボソボソと話してる、で三重苦で状況を飲み込むのに、大苦労。聞きにくいボソボソ英語を、同僚のヘザーが聞きやすいBritishEnglishに常に訳してくれて、おかげで何とか人物構成、舞台を把握しました。
以下、ヘザーの解説によると、有名な台詞ということで、確かに、かっこよく、印象に残るラインです。これらの台詞が終わる度に、観客から拍手が沸くのでした。 You have to think for both of us. For all of us. Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine 漣Here's looking at you, kid.漣 Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
８月１２日、日曜日、インテレッセＤＣオフィス３人が"I Love Sushi Like You Love Sushi" Meet-up Group のイベントに参加してきました。ボールストンモールにある、「Asahi Kaiten」という回転寿司屋さんで16ドル食べ放題スペシャルをエンジョイしました。 （毎週日曜日に、このスペシャルがあるそうです。皆様も是非、お試し下さい！） 寿司はやっぱりアメリカンスタイルでアボカドとクリームチーズの巻き寿司が多かったですが、普通のシャケやマグロやヒラメの寿司もありました。お願いしたら、卵もでました！徳島の100円回転寿司を思い出して、大学芋を食べたくなりました。もちろん大学芋はありませんでしたが、そのかわりに非常に美味しいバナナ天ぷらがデザートになりました。20人ぐらいが集まって、色々話しながら、食欲がすすみ、子皿の山がどんどん高くなりました。1時間半後、別腹まで満腹になりました。 このグループは、年齢も国籍もバックグラウンドもバラエティーのある気さくな人たちの集まりのようです。もちろんお寿司が好きなことはみんなの共通点なのですが、DCエリアに引っ越して来たばかりで友達を作りたい人、大学時代に勉強した日本語を忘れないように、日本語で会話をしたい人、日系の企業で勤めた経験がある人たちもいるようでした。どうやら、週に３回くらいのペースでDC界隈の寿司レストランで集まっているようです。また、お寿司が食べたくなったら参加してみよう！！

For those who have never played, you and your team-mates are armed with a 說flashing 說vest that has 4 target areas and a laser gun.
The arena is a maze of dimly lit corridors. Your goal: to shoot the other team and attack their base. Our group was small and we only won 1 of 3 games, but we had a blast! Fun for all ages!
